Music of Life is looking to appoint up to three new Trustees to join our enthusiastic and engaged Board.
Since 2003, we’ve been breaking down barriers to music education for disabled children and young people. Through our inclusive choirs, specialist music education, individual lessons and performance opportunities, we help young people develop confidence, communication skills, friendships and independence.
As our charity continues to grow, we’re looking for people who share our passion and can bring new skills, experiences and perspectives to help guide our future.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and particularly encourage applications from:
People with lived experience of disability, including disabled people, parents, carers and those working with disabled children and young people.
People from the global majority.
People with a background in education.
We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about improving opportunities for children and young people, can work collaboratively and are willing to play an active role in supporting the charity.
You don’t need to have been a Trustee before. We value experience gained through work, volunteering and personal life, and will provide a comprehensive induction to help you feel confident in the role.
As a Trustee, you’ll work alongside fellow Board members to help shape Music of Life’s strategy, ensure good governance and support the charity in achieving its mission.
The role includes:
Attending six Board meetings each year, three online and three in person, each lasting approximately two hours.
Reading papers and preparing for meetings.
Contributing your knowledge and experience to discussions and decisions.
Supporting specific projects or subcommittees where appropriate.
Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term, with the possibility of reappointment.
This is a voluntary, unpaid role, but reasonable expenses, including travel and childcare, will be reimbursed.
We use accessible meeting venues and are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments to support your participation.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a growing charity and help ensure that more children and young people can access the life-changing benefits of music.
You’ll join a committed and supportive Board, work alongside a passionate team and play a part in shaping the future of inclusive music education.
